What we offer
 |
Rehearsing before a recent concert in Swindon |
We are known as one of the most welcoming and friendly orchestras in the area - our coffee break is a key part of our rehearsal, and we organise curry evenings, Christmas parties and a regular get together in the pub after rehearsal. The orchestra members come from all walks of life and range from 15 to 70+.
Musical standards
We are proud of our reputation as a welcoming and friendly orchestra, and in the past we have not set a minimum standard for members. However, the orchestra is developing and moving forward with each concert and our range of works includes challenging pieces which aim to stretch us musically. For this reason, we recommend that grade 5 is a suitable minimum standard for string players looking to join the orchestra - although players at a higher standard than this will also find themselves challenged and stretched.
Rehearsals
We rehearse every Monday at Monkton Park School in Chippenham - and in the run up to each concert we also enjoy a full day weekend rehearsal, which is a chance to polish the pieces in a more relaxed environment.
